Before the Initial Session: PLEASE Email the Consultation Form

Before the initial session is booked, it is important to complete the consultation form. It is quite elaborate but is a great way for me to gain a better understanding, so try and fill it in as best you can. It should help me prepare and hopefully save time during the initial assessment.

After I have received the form, I will schedule a brief video call, so we can discuss our expectations and then we can book the session.

Initial Session

The initial session will take around 90 minutes and costs £80, and will consist of the following;

1.  Discuss the consultation form and any concerns

We’ll discuss the information on the consultation form, to ensure I fully understand the situation. Anything that is unclear about what can, and what cannot be addressed by manual and movement therapy can be discussed.

2. Offer a brief overview of the various modalities

As there are so many tools available, I will give a brief summary of the various options we have. In manual therapy we can use the ancient healing art of Thai Yoga Massage, or we can work on the deeper connective tissue through Myofascial Release. In movement therapy using the wide range of therapeutic yoga tools, release chronic tension through Somatic Movement and work the deeper tissue through Yin Yoga in combination with using the myofascial release balls. This will paint a better picture for the plan after the postural assessment.

3. Postural Assessment

A crucial part of the initial session is to get a better understanding of any postural patterns. The standing awareness practice is done to enable you to feel where in your body you feel imbalanced, while at the same time I get a chance to observe the posture. Ideally this is done in shorts/yoga clothing so the posture can be best observed. Afterwards we will discuss each other’s observations.

4. Discuss options for follow-up sessions

On the basis of the form, our initial discussion and the observations from the posture assessment we can discuss which of the modalities we would like to combine in the follow-up sessions.

5. Make a session plan

With a better understanding of which issues to address and which modalities to use, we can discuss a plan for the number and length of sessions we want to plan. This plan can be flexible and adjusted in subsequent sessions.
